The New Super Mario Bros DS Game is everything you would expect from the classic 2d side scroller series. It’s fun, with just the right amount of challenge level and there’s a ton of hidden goodies, power ups, warp levels and all the cool stuff that makes it worth beating just to play it all over again. In a word: AWESOME!!
There is also a minigame where you compete with Luigi and several interesting cheats worth looking into. I can’t post them all here, but these are a few of my favorite ones:
- To play the whole game as Luigi hold L + R and press A on the file you want to use
- For a special challenge mode just finish the game and then go to the world map and enter Start, L R L R X X Y Y
- Extra toad houses: At the end of levels, jump on to the flagpole and when the last two digits of your countdown timer are the same. For Red Houses, jump on at 11, 22, or 33. For Green Houses, jump on at 44, 55, or 66. And for Orange Houses, jump at 77, 88, or 99.
- More power ups: go back to World 1 and play the stages with the Red Winged Question mark blocks.
- Unlimited 1ups: At the pipe right at the end of World 1-4, kick a koopa shell and it’ll keep sliding back and forth between the pipe to the right and the wall to the left. If you jump every time the shell comes your way, it will kill the enemies that constantly appear, eventually giving you 1UPs every time!
